What Guides Us

As Jesus welcomes so do we. Everyone is welcome at our church, and will be met with love and kindness.

We are a community rooted in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

We trust in God, whom Jesus revealed as loving, compassionate, inclusive, and ever-present. We seek to follow the way of Christ and remain open to the movement of the Holy Spirit, who continues to comfort, challenge, inspire, and guide us.

We turn to the Scriptures as a sacred source of wisdom and seek together to discern God's presence and invitation within them. We recognize that faithful people may understand Scripture in different ways, and we believe that honest questions, thoughtful reflection, and spiritual exploration are valuable parts of faith.

We do not have a set theology or doctrine as you might expect a church to have. Our theology can be summed up to one word: Autonomy.

We believe that every person is created in the image of God and possesses both the freedom and responsibility to discern spiritual truth for themselves. We honor the sacredness of individual conscience and encourage each person to engage faith with openness, integrity, and humility.

As a Congregational church, we believe that no outside authority governs our congregation. Decisions about our life and ministry are made prayerfully and collaboratively by the members of our community.

We understand the mission of the church to be sharing the good news of God's love, nurturing spiritual growth, pursuing justice, cultivating peace, and participating in the healing of the world.

We seek to cooperate with Christians of many traditions and with all people of goodwill, recognizing that we do not have all the answers and that God is often at work beyond the boundaries we humans often create.

We believe that the Spirit continues to lead us, and we remain open to new insights, deeper understanding, and ongoing transformation.

Above all, we seek to love God, love our neighbors, and walk together in the way of Christ.
